Tech Giants are racing with their AI tools to serve the Enterprises and the latest one is Google.

Google’s Duet AI

Today Google is making Duet AI for Google Workspace generally available, and you can get started now with a no-cost trial.

With over 3 billion users and more than 10 million paying customers who rely on it every day to get things done, Google Workspace is the world’s most popular productivity tool.

Their pioneering technology makes collaborating with people easy, fun, and ubiquitously available.

With the introduction of Duet AI, they have added AI as a real-time collaborator.

Since its launch, thousands of companies and more than a million trusted testers have used Duet AI as a powerful collaboration partner that can act as a coach, source of inspiration, and productivity booster — all while ensuring every user and organization has control over their data.

Before entering into the use cases, let’s take a look at the important parts.

Will this Data be safe?

Google Workspace has always prioritized user privacy and security. This commitment continues with Duet AI, and users can be confident that their interactions with Duet AI are private.

No other user will see their data, and Google will not use their data to train models without their permission.

In addition to these core commitments, Google recently announced new capabilities to help prevent cyber threats, provide safer work with built-in zero-trust controls, and better support customers’ digital sovereignty and compliance needs.

Let’s now jump to use cases:

Details are extracted from relevant Google product pages. I’ll attach the reference link; be sure to check it out.

Summarizing and recreating made easier:

With so many emails, meetings, and action items to follow up on, it can feel like there isn’t enough time in the day. But what if you had an intelligent, real-time collaboration partner that could help you get it all done? Duet AI can help you focus on what really matters while it takes care of the rest.

For example, imagine you’re a financial analyst and you get an email at 5 PM from your boss asking for a presentation on Q3 performance by 8 AM tomorrow.

Instead of scrambling through spreadsheets, documents, and emails, you can simply ask Duet AI to do the heavy lifting.

Duet AI can create a whole new presentation, complete with text, charts, and images, based on your relevant content in Drive and Gmail. A last-minute request that once called for an all-nighter can now be completed before dinner time.

Duet AI is still under development, but it has the potential to revolutionize the way we work. By automating time-consuming tasks, Duet AI can free up our time so we can focus on what’s really important.

A new way of attending meetings:

Many people have busy days filled with meetings. Attending too many meetings, or trying to catch up on those you miss, can be exhausting. Duet AI can help make meetings less tiring and more productive.

The most important part of any meeting is being clearly seen, heard, and understood. However, things like poor camera and sound quality, a slow internet connection, or language barriers can make this difficult.

Duet AI is being integrated into Google Meet to help ensure that you look and sound your best with studio look, studio lighting, and studio sound. Dynamic tiles and face detection will also be rolled out, giving attendees in a meeting room their own video tile with their name.

This will make it easier for remote participants to see everyone in the room and avoid colleagues appearing far away and out of focus. Automatic translated captions for 18 languages will also be launched. Meet will automatically detect when another language is spoken and display the translation in real-time.

To help you better engage during meetings, Duet AI will also take notes, action items, and video snippets in real-time with the new “take notes for me” feature. A summary will be sent to attendees after the meeting.

Duet AI can also help latecomers get up to speed with a “summary so far,” which gives a quick snapshot of everything they’ve missed.

If you can’t make a meeting but have some input to share, Duet AI can join the meeting on your behalf, deliver your message, and ensure you get the recap.

Duet AI is a powerful tool that can help make meetings more productive and enjoyable.

Few more new capabilities:

Google Cloud has introduced new capabilities to provide a personalized and intent-driven cloud experience. These capabilities include:

  • Code assistance: AI-driven code assistance for cloud users such as application developers and data engineers. It gives code recommendations as they type in real-time, generates full functions and code blocks, and identifies vulnerabilities and errors in the code while suggesting fixes.
  • Chat assistance: Allows people to use simple natural language to get answers to a specific development or cloud-related questions. Users can engage with chat assistance to get real-time guidance on various topics, such as how to use certain cloud services or functions, or get detailed implementation plans for their cloud projects. It can also provide architectural or coding best practices, helping to reduce the need to go searching for relevant documents.
  • Duet AI for AppSheet: Lets users create intelligent business applications, connect their data, and build workflows into Google Workspace via natural language. With no coding required, users will be able to build apps by describing their needs in a chat guided by AI-powered prompts. This makes app creation accessible to more users, which can allow developer teams to focus their time on other high-impact work.

These new capabilities are designed to make it easier for users to get the most out of Google Cloud. They are available now through multiple products and services across Google Cloud.

Who else is in this race?

After a lot of controversy on the concept of training data without consent, OpenAI has released ChatGPT for enterprises. More on that in the next blog.

On a side note — I have released a new template for podcasters who are doing guest interviews.

You don’t have to hear the guest say “What are the next steps once the interview is booked?”
